Indonesian Miniature Park (Taman Mini Indonesia Indah)
Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) is an Indonesian-culture-themed tourist attraction located in East Jakarta. The park is a150-hectare area transformed into a miniature of Indonesia. It captures Indonesia’s rich culture and nature. The idea of TMII was proposed by Indonesia’s second first lady, Siti Hartinah (wellknown as Ibu Tien Soeharto, wife of President Soeharto). In 1970, she came up with the idea of building a miniature of Indonesia to grow people’s love for the nation and the culture. TMII’s establishment was started in 1972 and finished in April 20th, 1975. The park has areas which represent all provinces’ traditional housings, clothings, and arts. In addition, the park also has museums exhibiting the use of modern technology and nature parks showing the rich flora and fauna in Indonesia. It also has various religious buildings next to each other representing harmonius religious pluralism in Indonesia.
